The
AICTE sponsored National Seminar on
Emerging Trends in Pharmaceutical Education and Research was
organized by Royal College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences from 20th
to 22nd July 2007 in the college premises.162 delegates
from different states including Orissa,
Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Jharkand, West Bengal,
M.P. and U.P.
participated in the seminar. The delegates included academicians from
various pharmacy colleges, industrialists from pharmaceutical
industries, research scholars and students. The seminar was
inaugurated at 10-00 am on 20-7-07. Miss. Thrishna
Bal, Lecturer invited the dignitaries on to the dais. The Convener of
the seminar and Principal of the college Prof. P.N.Murthy
extended a warm welcome to all the delegates and the resource persons
and stressed the need to upgrade our knowledge and skills in view of
the spectacular progress that took place in the industrial world
including pharmaceutical sciences during the last decade. The Chieg Guest Prof. M. Vimala

inaugurated the seminar. Prof. D. Rambhau,

President, Royal Educational and Research Society, Dr. T. Prakash Rao, Chairman,
Governing Body of the college etc, spoke in the inaugural session.
Mr. Susanta Kumar Panda, Asst. Professor of
the college proposed a vote of thanks.

plenary sessions, 5 Scientific paper presentation
(4 oral and 1 poster) sessions were conducted during the 3 day
seminar which were very interactive, thought provoking and useful to
the delegates. The plenary sessions were chaired by Prof. M. Vimala Devi,. Prof. D. Rambhau,
Prof. S. Satyanarayana, Prof. Y. Madhusudan Rao, and
Prof. P. Ellaiah.

An Emerging Trend in
Pharmaceutical Research
A
total of 47 papers in oral session and 17 in poster session were
presented by the delegates in 5 sessions held. Prizes were awarded to
the meritorious papers.
A
pre-dinner cultural programme was arranged
on the first day of the seminar in which many faculty members,
delegates and students participated and it was very enjoyable. A
sight seeing trip was organized in the evening of the 2nd
day of the seminar.
The
valedictory session was held at 5-00 pm on the last day of the
seminar. Prof. Y. Madhusudan Rao, Prof. P.N.Murthy, Prof. M.E. Bhanoji Rao, Prof. M. Yedukondalu and Sri P. Satyanarayana
were on the dais. Prizes were distributed to the authors of 5
meritorious papers selected by a panel of judges. Evaluation of the
workshop was carried out and the rating was excellent in general.
Prof. P. N. Murthy requested all the delegates to make use of the
knowledge and skills acquired during the seminar and promote better
educational and research standards in their institutions. He also
advised them to hold similar seminars and workshops in their
institutions for advancing the profession. The meeting ended with a
vote of thanks by Sri S.K. Panda, Asst.
Professor of the college.
